The past few months have been filled with preparations for a weekend full of weddings and the blending of two cultures.
As my sister’s maid of honor, I was able to have a custom dress made from scratch along with the rest of the bridesmaids for the bride and groom’s traditional Nigerian Wedding.
As the fashion lover that I am, it wasn’t enough for me just to look up examples of Nigerian bridesmaid dresses and replicate it. I really wanted it to feel like “me.”
The first aspect I considered was silhouette. It didn’t take long for me to settle on inspiration from my favorite era: 90s supermodels.

Queen Carla Bruni for Yves Saint Laurent in 1995 was the winner. The look of course was going to be classic and chic- with a Nigerian twist.
Outfit details:
- Ivory printed Nigerian dress
- Black gele
- Gold & ivory jewelry
- Gold shoes

A special shout-out to the stunning bride! This night was a beautiful celebration that I’m so grateful I was able to be a part of. Thank you to my now brother-in-law’s family for including us in such an amazing event.
